The Shooting Triathlon is a traditional technical individual competition in precision shooting with large-caliber pistols and large-caliber revolvers of caliber 7.62 – .45 (11 mm) at a distance of 25 m, divided into separately evaluated disciplines: Pistol and Revolver. Competitors complete shooting stages of 10 rounds (in series of 5 rounds) into three different paper targets.
The Shooting Triathlon, in its current form, was created at the beginning of the new millennium from the idea of establishing a technical sports competition in precision shooting at 25 m with large-caliber handguns commonly used by armed forces.
A competition format was chosen consisting of shooting stages of 10 rounds into three different target types – the 135P “prone exposed silhouette” also used for military training, the 50/20 sport target, and the D1 target (the so-called “parrot”) created by the president of the Czech Shooters’ Society, Mr. Mirek Dvořák.
The competition consists of several qualification rounds and is concluded with the Slovak Championships in Shooting Triathlon. The competition is regulated by rules approved by the central bodies of the Association.
